I am not against lights, this isn't a rant, flip your keyboards to safety mode, please.

People are already starting to play copious amounts of lights and a mix of 40 tonners. 5 matches in a row have people begun intense nascaring with anyone heavier than 55 tons being left behind, then whoever backstabs first wins. It really isn't fun at all, and people playing heavier 'mechs literally cannot do anything about it but be stuck with the enemy team driving their flanks in seconds.

Please, anyone playing for this event, diffuse it before it happens, call for group ups, don't fly ahead thinking you being in a pack of lights means instawin, because it doesn't, it ruins the game for everyone else on the team.

Thank you for reading.

To be honest, following Lights in a slower mech is to your own detriment. Lights have historically been proactive in going ahead, whether or not it is a good place to be or go. It's an error if you are trying to follow a Light mech early in game w/o actually having said speed.

It's also unrealistic for a Light mech to "hang around" slower mechs - their goal is to wander ahead so that you can figure out what to do yourself.

@death

That's not the point here. What I'm saying is the amount of fast 'mechs has gone up, thusly all of them fly ahead and the assaults can't deal with being backstabbed by an equally large number of fast 'mechs. You don't need ALL of them to go out in front because what is going to counter the problem then?

That has more to do with PUG mentality (not scouting in relevant sectors) than it is intelligent design.

When you have a group of Lights that herd together, they succeed together... as long as they are on the same page.

The value of scouting is usually closer to garbage in the public queue, but intelligent use of information is the key to knowing what you need to do.

So, what's the solution?

If you spawn in an assault, your team will 100% run off and abandon you.

Your choices are to:
  • try to catch up with the Nascar fans and get shot in the back by the other team's lights, doing the same.
  • sit in the spawn and do nothing.
  • charge the enemy team and get slaughtered.

It's the medium event, all over again.. except this time it's even worse for fatties.

Time to put LBX 20s on my HBK-IIC and SRMs on my HBK-IIC-B.

Maybe stop dropping in mechs that require the team to babysit you? :P

That's what an assault 'mech is. A high damage slow mover that needs support. That's part of the game... Gee...

Assaults can use Streaks can they not?

Last time I used Streaks on an Assault was with the Warhawk that had the CT missile slot. That was kinda productive.

Just go all shotgun mode in an assault and leg them I guess.

Or just don't use assaults.

Well this is obviously a situation where being an assault mech is a detriment to the team.

I have little patience for pilots who beg to be escorted and protected at the start of the match while threatening to tk anyone who crosses their tunnel vision firing arc later. And funny enough it's always an assault pilot. :D

I can tell you're trolling. I'm talking about the role of an assault 'mech and you're going off on a tangent how they're a "detriment" and "assault pilots being ********" nonsense. When was the last time you saw a lone assault 'mech that wasn't overrun by lights?

We don't need more of this "Well I do what I want, screw everyone else!!!" mentality.

^ this.

I've started many a match by saying "please don't follow me" and then still having two or three guys follow me and die because they don't understand the term, "disengage."

Assault mech are designed for LEAD assault.

If you play an assault during a light event, when you know obviously they will lead the real assault well maybe you will deserve to be rushed by ennemies lights ( which do same things than yours lights ) in your slow assault mech .

@ideal

Well yes, I didn't say they can't lead, what I'm saying is that this stuff is completely preventable if people would stop flying ahead and disregarding everyone. It isn't fair to people who just want to have fun in an assault 'mech. If you want an assault to lead a charge and do lots of damage, then at least make sure they aren't being jabbed by 5 lights, which no one should have to complain about doing as hey, it's something to shoot at! Look at that, free mechs to destroy! But judging from responses, apparently no one enjoys playing the game this way
